Injuries are a huge reason people miss work. Many people suffer from back pain, and it is caused by many different reasons. According to one doctor's interview, back pain causes approximately 93 million work days lost every year. This means those people might be losing wages because they are unable to work. If their back pain is work related, they may be entitled to workers' compensation benefits. These benefits are provided through an employers' insurance company.
Most employers are required to have workers' compensation, and it is important that they do in case an employee gets injured on the job. Sometimes people who are injured aren't able to receive compensation because their employer doesn't have insurance or the insurance company denies their claim.

A driver's license is the ultimate teenage responsibility. It means no more taking the bus to school for some teens and being able to drive to hang out with friends without having to find a ride. This responsibility comes with a great price, as one new study demonstrates. The study shows that although laws are greatly reducing the number of teen driving crashes, they are still at significantly higher risk.
Many teens like to take their friends with them to the mall or out to coffee. Being able to drive gives teens the ultimate freedom to socialize whenever and wherever they want. The study that was recently released showed that having just one passenger under the age of 21 increased the risk of being in a fatal car crash by 44 percent. This number seems to increase even more for a second or third passenger.

Anyone that works in a place where chemicals are used should be aware of their reactive properties and side-effects from injuries related to those chemicals. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says that companies are required to provide information to employees about dangerous chemicals and they should be readily available if there is a workplace injury. Companies should work to prevent accidents and have a plan in place if an employee is injured by a hazardous material.
An IHOP restaurant in another state was recently cited for an incident that happened in February that sent nine employees to the hospital. The employees were exposed to hazardous air when they mixed two chemicals that made a toxic cloud in the restaurant. As a result the company was cited for five serious violations.

At after working in at the same place for a while, many coworkers develop friendships, and would do anything for their colleagues, especially if it meant saving their lives. A man, in a state neighboring Pennsylvania, saved the life of a coworker during a workplace accident. When a coworker fell 40 feet into a vat of concentrated nitric acid and became submerged, the man jumped in after him to try to help.
Concerned for his coworker's safety, he risked his own health to help a friend in need, and likely helped prevent a terrible situation from turning deadly. It took rescue workers five minutes to arrive on the scene and start treating the man who fell. That five minutes was likely critical in saving the man's life.

There can sometimes be nothing more frustrating that a person merging into your lane or turning in front of you in traffic with no warning at all. Many people in Philadelphia and across the country cause car accidents because they fail to use their turn signal. In fact, a new study suggests that people not using their turn signals is a leading cause of car accidents.
The study from the Society of Automotive Engineers indicates that nearly 2 million car accidents occur every year because people fail to use their turn signals. It's a simple task, yet some drivers just neglect to warn others around them of their intended turn. The number of accidents caused by distracted driving is less that the number caused by drivers not using their turn signals.

People are injured in their workplaces practically every day throughout the country. Many people might only suffer seemingly minor injuries such as burns or cuts. What employees might not realize is those minor injuries could become infected, presenting a very large problem for the person's health. If that happens it might be important to explore your rights as an employee.
Many people shy away from the idea of asking an employer to pay for medical expenses. While the workers' compensation process can be skewed to favor the employers and insurance companies, it doesn't mean a person shouldn't be able to seek medical care. Seeking the advice of an experienced attorney no matter how small the injury might be at first, might be a wise idea. One young man was recently burned in an ice cream shop after an angry customer threw hot caramel on him. The man later experienced blistering and redness and may have needed medical care.

It is still unknown what caused a fatal crash yesterday. The car accident that happened in Northeast Philadelphia claimed the lives of two people. The two people that were killed were in the same vehicle. The person in the other vehicle was later being questioned by police but it wasn't clear from reports whether that person caused the accident.
Many times, car accidents require investigations to determine exactly how it happened. Police will use evidence from the scene as well as witnesses to the accident to determine if charges should be filed. Sometimes, a personal injury attorney can assist people in independently investigating an accident and gathering witnesses.

Many people who suffer from severe injuries need extensive rehabilitation, even after leaving an inpatient or hospital care setting. For people with spinal cord injuries, there are few community places to go for continuing rehabilitation after leaving the hospital. Many people either can't afford it, or there aren't proper facilities where they live.
When a severe injury is caused by another person's negligence, it might be wise to speak with a personal injury attorney who can help ensure your rights are protected. They may be able to help seek compensation to ensure you are able to get the care you need. One man in another state has started a progressive community care facility for spinal cord injury patients.
Accidents are often unexpected. Because of the unexpected nature of some accidents, it can be very difficult to understand why something happened to a loved one, or how it could have happened. Many people take years to mourn their loved ones, and sometimes it is difficult to find out exactly what happened.
A woman in Philadelphia died this week in a construction accident that she couldn't have avoided. While driving through a construction zone, a driver coming from the opposite directions swerved and hit a sign, launching it over the median on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The sign went through the woman's windshield and she died as a result.

Many injuries involving premises liability and workers' compensation claims happen unexpectedly. Although most people are injured doing something they wouldn't think could be dangerous, many of the accidents could be avoided if equipment is used properly and a premises is secure.
Late last month, one person was injured in a scaffolding accident in Philadelphia. The scaffolding lift tipped over onto a house. It isn't clear from news reports who was injured or the extent of the person's injuries.
